los angeles portfolio shows

Quinci and I had a great time making the rounds in Los Angeles last week, despite the unseasonably cold and rainy weather. It was fun to reconnect with so many old friends and show new and revamped portfolios. And despite our busy agency schedule, we of course made time to have our long-standing traditional lunch at the Ivy and do a quick run-through at Fred Segal! Here are a few photos from our show at Saatchi...

margaret lampert's pictures have started to move

Watching my photographers evolve and grow in this ever-changing landscape has been nothing short of inspirational. The ease with which they have all expanded their repertoire to include video, and the seemingly effortless way their unique styles have transitioned to the new medium is amazing. Margaret Lampert is the the latest to translate her poignant, organic, real imagery to motion with her first video, Nest. When I asked Margaret to write something about the process, this is what she had to say.

"This piece represents my first experience with video. As much as it is all about four sisters and their innocent beauty it is equally about finding my way in a new medium. I am quite thrilled by how seamlessly my sensibility has translated to motion.

Coming from a background in fiction writing, I have always wanted to tell stories with pictures. The ability to let the camera roll through one moment and into the next feels like pure magic. I have this sense that I am standing at the edge of an enchanted forest. The possibilities are as exciting as they are endless and I can’t wait to see what’s around the next corner."

muh-tay-zik hof-fer

As I've said before, showing the portfolios has to be one of my favorite parts of the job. It is so much fun to see the different agency personalities, and to make the human connection with people we most often only see 'virtually' or communicate with via email. With the help of Buddy the dog, we had another great show this morning at the very cool shop MUH-TAY-ZIK HOF-FER. Oh and Jamie, Britt says Hi.
